Municipal Planning Commission

The Municipal Planning Commission is responsible for the following matters relating to land use planning:

• preparing and recommending to City Council a comprehensive general plan for the physical development of the City, including the placement and location of public ways, property, bridges, schools, utilities, buildings, parks, play grounds, and recreational areas;
• the development and presentation to City Council of plans and proposals for the reservation and acquisition of lands needed for the physical development of the City;
• the preparation and submission to City Council of legislation respecting zoning, and the creation of areas, zones, and districts of permitted and excluded uses of property;
• the development and enforcement of subdivision regulations; and
• the consideration of applications for special use permits, and the making of recommendations to City Council in relation thereto.
