Minutes of the Special Meeting of Council

July 7, 2006

 

These minutes are unofficial and must be formally approved by Council at the next meeting.

 

The Council of the City of Sylvania, Ohio met in special session on Friday, July 7, 2006 at 8:00 a.m. with Mayor Craig A. Stough in the chair.  Roll was called with the following members present: Dr. Read Backus, John A. Borell, Jr., Keith M. Haddad, Doug Haynam, Mark Luetke, Barbara R. Sears (6); absent: Mark Bula; excused by Mayor Stough.

 

Mayor Stough stated that the purpose of the meeting is to refer two petitions for zoning ordinance amendments to the Sylvania Municipal Planning Commission for review at its July 13 meeting. 

 

Mr. Haynam presented zoning ordinance amendment no. SUP-3-2006, a request for a special use of the property at 5227 S. Main Street to operate a day-care and preschool.  Mr. Haynam moved, Mr. Borell seconded, to refer SUP-3-2006 to the Municipal Planning Commission for review and recommendation; roll call vote being: Backus, Borell, Haddad, Haynam, Luetke, Sears (6) yeas; (0) nays.  The motion carried.

 

Mr. Haynam presented zoning ordinance amendment no. ZA-4-2006, a request to change the zoning at 5800 W. Alexis Road from AB-1-B Modified Business and Office District@ to AB-2 General Business District@.  After discussion, Mr. Haynam moved, Mrs. Sears seconded, to refer ZA-4-2006 to the Municipal Planning Commission for review and recommendation, and to authorize the clerk to notify the residents in the immediate vicinity of the property of the Planning Commission meeting date and time; roll call vote being: Borell, Haddad, Haynam, Luetke, Sears, Backus (6) yeas; (0) nays.  The motion carried.

 

There were no further items for consideration or discussion and Mr. Luetke moved, Mrs. Sears seconded, that this meeting adjourn; all present voting yea (6); (0) nays.  The motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 8:10 a.m.
