Interstate Gas Supply (IGS) Information Mailed to Residents

The City of Sylvania began its natural gas aggregation program in 2001 after joining NOAC in 2000.  NOAC stands for the Northwest Ohio Aggregation Coalition and is a regional coalition organized to obtain lower utility rates for member communities.  From 2002 until February, 2010, Interstate Gas Supply offered natural gas rates to the City’s residential and small commercial consumers at a lower rate than Columbia Gas.  However, earlier this year, market conditions became unfavorable and IGS requested the City’s contract, set to expire in March, 2010, be terminated in February, 2010.  NOAC then solicited proposals to serve its communities’ residential and small commercial consumers and, after reviewing the proposals received on March 25, 2010, recommended the City enter into a Master Agreement with Interstate Gas Supply.  The new Agreement is for a 10-month term at a cost of the NYMEX price over the preceding month plus $0.172 per CCF.  All residents and small commercial customers will still have the choice to opt-out of the City’s aggregation program and remain with Columbia Gas for their natural gas service while those customers that remain in the City’s aggregation program will receive lower-priced natural gas from IGS.

2010 Road Projects Around the Sylvania Area

APRIL 21st: Lucas County will be widening and reconstructing Sylvania Avenue between Robinhood Lane and up to 1500' East of Holland-Sylvania Road.  Due to this construction, Westbound Sylvania Ave. will be closed to through traffic between between just east of Robinhood Lane to Holland-Sylvania Rd. starting on April 21, 2010 for a 100 day period.  For more information and detour routes, please click here.

Four significant projects, representing over $6.1 million of infrastructure investment on County Roads within Sylvania Township, will be underway in 2010. As with most road construction projects, these projects will result in some inconvenience and disruption to the travel patterns in the area. The Office of Lucas County Engineer is requesting patience and understanding during the work, but mostly attention to safety while traveling through the work zones in order to protect the workers, and others. This information and updates to the work throughout the construction will be posted on our website at www.co.lucas.oh.us.  For project descriptions CLICK HERE.
