"Annual Beautification Awards"

The City of Sylvania is ablaze with flowers again this summer.  Visitors to Sylvania often compliment our beautiful summer flowers and gardens.  Earlier in the summer, the Sylvania Conservation Corps planted thousands of annuals on public grounds around the community.

Our neighborhoods are also beautiful with flowers, adding to our quality of life and to the property values of our community.  The beauty of our neighborhoods, however, is the work of our residents.  Each year, the City of Sylvania honors our residents with the best front yards with Beautification Awards.

With the cooperation of the U.S. Postal Service, eighteen mail carriers have been viewing the front yards on their routes since spring, nominating the most appealing and best cared for in July.  A team of qualified judges then ranked the nominations using a point system considering lawn care and maintenance, front yard landscaping, floral additions, complimenting amenities and tidiness.  The selection of winners and runners up on each mail routes is a difficult task, with many beautiful yards to consider.

I am pleased to announce our winners and runners up.  Congratulations!
