The Sylvania Conservation Corps is sponsored by the City of Sylvania and supported by the Community service organizations, private enterprise and the school system.

The Concept is to provide a means of accomplishing more sophisticated projects and maintenance in our Sylvania parks and other public lands, to enhance the quality of life in our community.

The Focus is to provide "learn and earn" job opportunities for Junior High School students in the 12 to 14 year old bracket. The programs provide one supervisor for each six corps members. SCC corps crew are paid for each of 15 work projects. Part of their income is paid each week, the remainder is put in a savings account in their name.

Environmental job opportunities are introduced to corps members for future consideration. Besides developing a work ethic, building self esteem, a feeling of a job completed satisfactorily, teem effort in a business environment, management of time and money, and taking on real responsibilities, the corps members are also improving the environment.
