Division of Streets

 

The Division of Streets is responsible for maintaining the streets in the City of Sylvania. Its activities include the following:

  • Pot hole patching with cold mix;
  • Small overlays, widening, installation of speed bumps, and repairs due to City utility cuts;
  • Filling in of cracks on City streets to prevent water from penetrating the surface of the pavement;
  • The removal and replacement of concrete curbs, concrete pavement, and some sidewalk;
  • The reestablishment of berms and road edges;
  • The sweeping of streets, and the clean-up of oil spills, broken glass, mufflers, etc.;
  • The removal of snow from all City streets and parking lots, and the salting of the roads;
  • The repair and maintenance of catch basins in the street;
  • The repair and installation of street name signs, warning signs, regulatory signs, and informational signs;
  • The marking of pavement with channelizing lines, edge lines, and crosswalk words and symbols; and
  • The collection and disposal of leaves.

The Superintendent of Streets is David Bondy. The Division has ten full time employees.
