Department of Public Service

The Division of Utilities is responsible for City water and sewage service, and for billing for these services.

The Section of Water is responsible for the construction, improvement, repair, maintenance, and monitoring of water mains, service connections, pumps and pumping stations, pipes, storage tanks, fire hydrants, valves, and all other facilities and appurtenances related to the water distribution system.

The Section of Sewage is responsible for the construction, improvement, repair, maintenance, and monitoring of sewers, drains, ditches, culverts, streams, watercourses, pumps and pumping stations, and all other facilities and appurtenances related to the sewer collection systems, and the management and control of the collection and disposal of sewage.

The Section of Utility Office Service provides service to the public as a place for paying utility bills, making contracts for service, arranging for meter connections and disconnections, reporting service problems, meter reading and billing, and the issuance of water and sewer tap permits.

The Superintendent of Utilities is Rick J. Barricklow. He has been an employee of the City since 1973, and the Superintendent of Utilities since 1983. The Division has eighteen full time employees.
