Preparing Your Taxes
You can complete and file your return via email or on paper, whatever is easiest for you. If you need assistance or have questions at any point, feel free to call us at 419-885-8940.
Online Tax Preparation – Our Online Tax Preparation tool is no longer available. However, our office can prepare your Sylvania Tax Return for you via email. Please fill out the tax preparation request form. Request forms must be received by 11:59 pm on April 15 to be considered on time. You will receive an email from noreply@cityofsylvania that will allow you to securely email your tax documents to our office. Once we receive your documents, a return will be prepared and emailed back to you to sign and return.
If you would prefer to file in person, you may bring your documents to our office. Our office is located at City Hall, 6730 Monroe St, Sylvania, Ohio, Suite 202. Our office hours are Monday thru Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, excluding holidays.
Whether filing via email or in-person, we will require copies of: all W2s, 1099Misc, 1099NEC, W2G, 1040 (pages 1-2), Schedule 1, Schedule C, Schedule E, and Schedule F, copies of other city tax returns if tax was paid directly to another city (not all taxpayers will have all of these items).
